Hello!

My name is Sonsare Zabadi. I’m many things. We all are.

In August 2023, I became something I never was before - a lung transplant recipient.

At 33 years old, with severely damaged lungs, I was referred to palliative care and the end of my life was almost certain.

At 34, I received the precious gift of a double lung transplant. I am living proof that organ donation saves lives.

You can call me the grateful lung transplant guy. Through my personal story and journey, I want you to feel the tidal waves of gratitude surging within me. Each heartbeat, each breath, a symphony of thankfulness for the precious gift that has granted me a second chance at life.

What I'd love to do

Share my story and facilitate conversations with other transplant warriors to share their unique stories, perspectives and insights into what has helped them along their journey. I hope these conversations will help people living with severe respiratory conditions or on the path to transplantation. If this is you, I want you to know you are not alone.

Leverage my experience of being a lung transplant recipient to raise awareness about organ donation. By demonstrating how this life-saving act has transformed my life, I want to inspire you to act by signing up to donate your organs when you die. It's very important to also let your family know you’ve made this decision.

Support and collaborate with organisations working in various areas such as organ donation, lung and heart health, mental wellbeing etc. I want to actively promote the impactful work they do and raise funds to help them achieve more.

Create value for transplant warriors and communities across the world. Inspire everyone, everywhere to be grateful for their life and realise the many blessings and daily miracles they are blessed to have.

A bit more about me

I’m a husband and father.

I’m part of a wonderful Church family. They encourage me to see the great saviour Jesus Christ is. They demonstrate His love in many ways including caring for me and my family.

I'm a content creator and campaigns strategist.

I'm Nigerian 🇳🇬 and will soon be British as well.

I love music and listen to a variety of genres with Rap/ HipHop being my favourite. I support Arsenal Football Club, love fantasy stories like the chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, etc.

I enjoy podcast conversations and watch a variety of these on YouTube.

I love racket games, especially tennis & badminton.

I like to think of myself as an ambivert - having some sort of balance between my extrovert and introvert qualities.

I enjoy tidying up and cleaning - when I wash dishes and pots, I place them on the rack to air-dry. I like to think of the way I arrange the dishes and pots as masterful engineering facilitating air flow to dry the dishes 😆
